The YGT has a history of supporting schools in various ways, and in 2007 launched the YGT for SCHOOLS scheme.

Membership of YGT for SCHOOLS

This is for Yorkshire schools with an interest in developing their grounds or a garden area, setting up, or boosting an existing gardening club.

A £10, one-off, joining fee is all that is needed for schools to join YGT for Schools. Membership entitles them to:

  • Copy of YGT Newsletters.
  • Advice, ideas and support to create/develop a school garden or gardening club.
  • Enter any YGT for Schools projects, competitions or award schemes.

Members can apply for a selection of high quality junior gardening tools.
  • YGT for Schools Grounds Development Awards
Members can apply for awards of £200 to help create or develop a garden area.
  • YGT for Schools Environmental Club awards

News from schools

Mrs Kennedy’s class from their school just outside Charlotte, NC, USA, have been researching various aspects of fruit and veg and contacted us here at the Yorkshire Gardens Trust, to let us know that they found the YGT website really useful for their project. The children would like to share a couple more sites they found helpful with other schools –

We are delighted that our website is proving useful far and wide!

If your school has some gardening news that it would like to share, please contact education@yorkshiregardenstrust.org.uk
