The parkland was landscaped in the 18th century by Richard Woods. Restoring the Glory, Revealing the Secrets is the £3.8 million restoration project completed in September 2021, which has enabled Barnsley Metropolitan Council to take the parkland and gardens back to the former glory of their Georgian splendour whilst addressing current issues of bio-diversity and sustainability.
The house and gardens offer much that is new or enhanced for visitors to discover and enjoy and secures the future of Cannon Hall for the 21st century. A talk and tour led by Project Manager Sharon Sutton and a display of project and archive material will give a unique insight into how this has been achieved and our visit will give members a chance to see this for themselves.
