Denton Park hall, dating from the 1770s, sits in a designed landscape that was first developed in the 16th century with extensive deer parks stretching from the river to the high moorland. Following the building of the present hall, the immediate grounds were remodelled over the next 50 years with the lake and kitchen garden complex being the main features. These remain, together with the immediate parkland, providing a suitable setting for the Grade I listed hall.
